The Graveraet School Building is a community treasure worth beautifying, preserving, protecting and restoring.
The original Graveraet School fountains and courtyard are an important part of the architecture and history of the building.
All community members, students, and visitors have the right to access and enjoy the Graveraet School fountains and courtyard.
Mission Statement
The Graveraet School fountains and courtyard will be restored, as closely as possible, to its original state of masonry design and botanical beauty so that all students, community members, and visitors in the Marquette area can enjoy the historic landscape for generations to come.
Parameters
We, the Kaufman Auditorium Beautification Committee, will provide a safely constructed fountain and courtyard that adheres to all local, state, and federal guidelines. We will not discriminate against any individual, group, contracted worker or company based upon race, creed, religion, sex, sexual orientation or national origin.
The Marquette Area Public School Board of Education is the governing body regarding all final decisions to be made to school property at Graveraet.
Objectives
We will raise the estimated $100,000 needed for the restoration of the original Graveraet fountains and courtyard. (Completed by August 2008) We will help raise the estimated $60,000 for the Ohio Street flowerbeds and beautification, organizing a Graveraet Intermediate School student fundraising event. (Started September 2007 through May 2008) We will apply for all known local grants and several state grants for financial support. (September 2007 through August 2008)
We will begin ground-breaking ceremonies by June 15th, 2008.
Strategies
We will develop and implement a Fundraising Action Plan for the Kaufman Auditorium Beautification project. We will develop and implement a Marketing Action Plan for the Kaufman Auditorium Beautification project.
We will develop and implement a Maintenance Action Plan for the Kaufman Auditorium Beautification project.
Fundraising Action Plan
We will research and apply for grants at the local and state level. (Completed by July 1, 2008) We will educate the public about our mission to restore the Graveraet fountains and courtyard and ask for their financial support through the selling of engraved stones. (Completed by June 1, 2008) We will plan and execute a major fundraising event to help gain support for the restoration of the Graveraet School fountains and courtyard. (October 2007; May 2008)We will involve the students at Graveraet Intermediate School and come up with a major fundraising plan for the Fred Rydholm Ohio Street flowerbeds and beautification. (Started September 2007; Completed May, 2008)
We will create and secure a Kaufman Auditorium Beautification Fund with the Marquette Area Public Schools Education Foundation after the renovation has taken place. (September 2008)
Marketing Action Plan
We will create a brochure and an information packet for potential donors to look at. (Complete by August 15, 2007) We will create a marketing sub-committee to help collaborate with local media and businesses to gain free advertising opportunities. (August 2007 to August 2008) The marketing sub-committee will help determine where and when to advertise and with what means- signs, brochures, posters, etc. (August 2007 to August 2008)
The marketing sub-committee will help create historical awareness about the Graveraet School fountains and courtyard with students and community members. (August 2007 to August 2008)
Maintenance Action Plan
We will assess and document all involved costs and expenditures for the entire Kaufman Auditorium Beautification Project. (Completed by August 15, 2007) We will form a maintenance sub-committee that will maintain an estimated time frame of site construction projects. (start August 1, 2007)
The maintenance sub-committee will research and gather information about materials, labor, and any other construction expenses. (August 1, 2007 to August 1, 2008) 4. We will determine a long-term maintenance plan for the restored fountains, courtyard, and Ohio Street projects to work in conjunction with Marquette Area Public School custodians, students and Friends of Kaufman Auditorium. (By August 1, 2008)
